Drawing from the essay of Nicholas Fox Weber, In The Bauhaus Kitchen, this project celebrates the Bauhaus centenary through a study and reinterpretation of the interwoven nature between food culture and design in the daily life of the Bauhaus. 20 creative minds collaboratively explore the intersections of art, design and gastronomy in the same inventive play that Albers and Klee had exemplified. The fruits of their labour culminate in a singular sensorial experience and visual feast.

A project curated by Sebastian Alberdi & Elsa Yranzo

On this occasion, I had the honor of crafting pieces—masks that became an integral part of the experience. These masks were not just objects; they were symbols, a veil that both concealed and revealed, echoing the hidden stories of women silenced by time. Through them, the experience took on a deeper dimension, inviting the viewer to step into the untold, to wear the history that had long been forgotten.

These pieces are rooted in the concept of the Bauhaus school, yet they shine a light on the often-forgotten women of the Bauhaus. Women who were barred from painting classes, relegated to the art of weaving, their creative voices silenced and their talents overshadowed simply because of their gender. These works honor their stories, bringing to the forefront the forgotten women whose art was left in the shadows, now ready to be seen and heard once again. That is why the triangles, squares, and circles cover the eyes, preventing them from seeing, or the mouth, so that they could not raise their voice

The entire experience unfolded within the timeless walls of the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Barcelona, where the echoes of modernist architecture met the creativity of the culinary, design, and art worlds. It was an unforgettable journey, one where every element—architecture, art, and passion—came together in perfect harmony. A moment where the lines between creativity and history blurred, leaving us with a profound and enriching experience.

When it comes to creative direction, it’s about seeing the bigger picture. That’s why I meticulously designed the wardrobe for everyone involved in the experience, selecting earthy tones that seamlessly blended with the architecture of the space. Each detail, from the clothing to the setting, was part of a cohesive narrative—a visual harmony that allowed the people and the environment to merge into a single, unified experience.

I invited each person to write a few words that captured their essence of the experience, a personal reflection of their journey. These handwritten notes, each unique and intimate, were then carefully hung on their clothing, becoming a silent yet powerful companion throughout the entire experience. As they moved through the space, these words followed them, a tangible reminder of the emotions, thoughts, and connections woven into every moment.

The pieces were exhibited at Il.lacions gallery.  Also the magazine Neo2 immortalized the experience in an article featured in their print edition, capturing the essence of the journey.

Sharing the narrative of forgotten voices and revived legacies.

To create something from the ground up with your own hands is a gift for both the soul and the mind. It is the art of invention, the birth of a prototype, the excitement of seeing it take form, and the delicate dance of adjusting it until it works perfectly.

It is a process that requires patience and care, a beautiful journey where every step is filled with possibility and every small change becomes part of something greater.
